Personality Development

Charles M. Schwab in ' Ten commandments of success' has said, '' Pesonality is to man what perfume to flower''. Let us first understand the meaning of personality.

'' Personality is the sum total of all tedencies that an individual has inherited and of those he has acquired by experience''.

In othere words, the there basic row material of personality physique, intelligences conditions subsequent to birth. The interaction between the individual personality and environment give rise to what is known as the traits of personality which determines behaviour in a difined situation.

Personality development is a total development of person. Everybody wants professional development, financial development social and mental development, physical and spiritual development. It is only when an individual does something 'important' or unique that he feels happy or successful. A person who wants to strive to reach higher and higher goals will have to continuously develop many skills. These skills are leadership, setting time management, human relation etc. unfortunately, these skills are not taught in schools or colleges, professionals conduct short courses on these subject and various books are available in the market on these subjects. Mental development, physical development, spiritual development are also part of personality development which should be given it's due importance.

The different avenues of personal growth and personality development are discussed as under : -

Social Development

We must learn to get along with others, we must know how to move with them towards this end, we must develope ourselves socially. You must show people that you like them not in blunt manner but in such form that it will convey the messsage, show interest in their ideas or atleast listen to their ideas. Display a positive attitude and know how to play up your good features.

Financial Development

A sound financial background is essential in achieving success. Plan your saving well for future needs and try to understand how you can improve your financial position still further. It you are not disciplined in your finance your family will not respect you.

Mental Development

People love persons who are well inframed and are intellectual. So keep watch what is happening around. Keep your eyes and ears open for increasing knowledge. Read newspapers, trade and professional publications, fiction and non-fictiion, inspirational books and text on management on a regular basis. Attend job or trade or professional oriented seminars, conferences and seminars.

Physical Development

Unless you are there, whole and healthy, how you can improve yourself. Therfore learn to be healthy. physicaly fit, smart and charming always. Try to regularly attend in outdoor recreatinon. Have a regular and thorough medical examination.

Spiritual Development

We must behave in a manner that we respect others to behave. We must respect others as god's children and love them. Then we all will realise god in us. Read material on religion or spiritual beliefs, abide by the laws set by the government. Do not take unfair advantages of others and be aware that there is a thing called 'God's Will'.
